Job Description

Local company looking for a Full Time Vendor FSQA Manager in Tewksbury.

Position Description (Responsibilities):
· Manage the supplier approval process, including visiting key suppliers as necessary, conducting supplier/co-manufacturing audits, and reporting on QA performance metrics
· Establish risk-based audit schedule to ensure timely audits of suppliers and co-manufacturers
· Manage and maintain supply chain and co-manufacturers food safety & quality documentation via WellPet supplier approval electronic platform ¿ Trace Gains.
· Manage Corporate FSVP process
· Analyze and verify supplier quality systems and production methods and procedures for manufacturing, testing and inspecting raw materials and co-manufactured products
· From a quality perspective, manage the supply chain to ensure that suppliers comply with WellPet quality standards and requirements
· Liaise with procurement and site FSQA & Regulatory to monitor, communicate and improve supply chain KPI¿s, including supplier on time delivery and non-conformance metrics
· Implement problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances
· Initiate and track supplier corrective action requests (SCARs), communicating with suppliers to obtain effective and timely corrective actions to prevent recurrence of product defects
· Liaise with procurement, site operations & relevant QA teams on supplier performance improvement projects in an effort to increase the supplier capability of consistently meeting internal and customer requirements
· Establish specific short/long term supplier and co-manufacturing food safety & quality goals
· Coordinate activities concerned with food safety & quality issues, technical developments, audit scheduling and, where appropriate, resolving food safety and quality issues
· Champion the vendor quality management system and promote the quality culture; address and correct quality non-compliance, based on root-cause analysis
· Encourage an innovative working environment while motivating, organizing and encouraging teamwork within the workforce
· Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations
· Develop and implement processes to ensure compliance with company policies/procedures, regulatory requirements, customer expectations and continual process improvement
· Complete training on relevant quality procedures and understand his/her contribution to the achievement of company quality objectives

Position Requirements
This position is ideally suited for an industry professional with a strong understanding of food safety and quality best practices and who lives in the Greater Boston/Southern New Hampshire region with an ability to travel approximately 30-40% . Successful candidates should also have:
· A Bachelor¿s degree in food, microbiology or life science
· 5 or more years of experience in a supplier quality management position, with a strong preference for candidates with pet food/human food industry experience
· An advanced understanding of GFSI Quality Standards and requirements
· Auditing experience, preferably corporate 2nd party or 3rd party GFSI standards
· Advanced interpersonal skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively and maintain credibility with customers, suppliers, and across all levels in the business
· Superior problem solving and analytical skills; demonstrated passion for solving problems and operational excellence
· Strong writing, organizational and communication skills
· High level of proficiency with technology; including Microsoft Office (Excel)
