Job Description

Comply with product recalls according to drug manufacturer and federal standards per each.  Obtain pharmacist sign off on compliance per each.  Maintain recall log.
Manage inventory levels
-    Maintain adequate inventory levels to avoid controllable out of stock situations
-    Maintain or exceed 14% generic compliance with primary wholesaler
-    Minimize overstock of inventory and make note of excess inventory
-    Manage contracts with vendors to ensure cost efficiency and place orders
-    Review new product alerts for generics and cheaper brands

Communicate with Accounts Payable/Receivable regarding invoices, returns/recalls and validate that credit is received from vendors.
Maintain filling area drug bays, hospice area, and supply warehouse:
-    Update product labels, 'look alike sound alike', 'do not order', and indicators
-    for alternate vendors
-    Follow Medication Disposal Policy for removing expired or obsolete product
-    Review and update par levels quarterly
-    Review the pre-packed card stock and update drug type and par levels
-    quarterly
-    Reorganize shelves and clean as needed

Maintain drug database in pharmacy system, including:
-    Entering new drugs
-    Discontinuing drugs no longer used
-    Updating price discrepancies when identified and notifying pharmacy system vendor and primary wholesaler
-    Updating substitutions
-    Update supply pricing for any manual maintained NDCs weekly as inventory is received using invoices

Maintain relationships with vendors.
Communicate with Management, Pharmacists, Data Entry and Filling regarding changes product availability.  This includes but is not limited to notifying these areas when generics become available for brand name drugs via a weekly email.
Participate in safety activities.
Must be available for extended work hours as needed.
Knowledge of computers to operate effectively with Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
Self-motivated, highly organized, task and detail oriented with an ability to lead.  Maintains an orderly workspace.
The ability to interact and communicate well with employees, customers, vendors, and management.
Maintain professional appearance
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.  Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently.  Ability to manage multiple priorities through time management.
Perform other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

-    Pharmacy Experience
-    Pharmacy Technician Certification required
-    Strong communication skills and customer service.
-    Strong knowledge of the products required for hospice and group home care.
-    Good leadership and organizational skills.
-    Good analytical and problem solving skills.
-    Good negotiation skills to negotiate quantity and pricing.
