Tewksbury Hospital under the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is looking for 15+ Cleaners on both first and 2nd shift. Please Note: These positions are 40 hours per week working 1st (7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) or 2nd (3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.) days off and shift will be discussed during the interview process.
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
Performs day-to-day housekeeping services to the main hospital and other buildings on campus to ensure a clean, attractive facility in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
Sweeps, vacuums, and washes floors, using appropriate equipment and supplies to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the hospital.
Dusts, polishes, and washes interior surfaces such as windows furniture, walls, ceilings, etc., using appropriate supplies and equipment in order to maintain building in a clean and orderly condition.
Prepares beds after washing using appropriate linen supplies and removes/hangs window draperies and bedside curtains as needed.
Cleans toilets, lavatories, washrooms, mop closets, etc., using appropriate supplies and equipment in order to maintain the appearance and cleanliness of such areas.
Distributes clean linen to patient care and ancillary departments.
Empties and relines trash receptacles, paying particular attention to the safe and proper handling of hazardous waste.
Collects soiled linen to aid in the operation of the laundry function.
Performs lifting and moving activities such as stocking oxygen tanks and furniture
Arranges and prepares conference rooms, patient care units and other designated areas as needed.
Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions/directions.
Talent for establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships and deal tactfully with others.
Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time and lift/carry heavy objects.
Prior cleaning, custodial, housekeeping experience.
Demonstrated language skills that allow for two-way communication, effective patient service, coordination with other members of the patient care team.
Capacity to establish procedures, policies and organizational standards, and the safe use of cleaning agents and equipment.
