GENERAL STATEMENT: The Maintenance Mechanic position performs a wide range of activities to provide a safe and productive work place. This role supports the needs of manufacturing and facilities to ensure both are in top working order. Following a strict preventive maintenance schedule to lessen our exposure to downtime related repairs and maintenance.
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager
PRIMARY DUTIES AND JOB EXPECTATIONS:
o Conduct one?s activities according to the local and corporate policies including attendance and safety.
o Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
o Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
o Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
o Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
o Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
o Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
o Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
o Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
o Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
o Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
o Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
o Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
o Support project plans for equipment installation.
o Report shift metrics to capture the performance and/or areas for improvement. (Breakdown ? Downtime) (Part Availability)
o Generate necessary requisitions for review and ordering by Maintenance Mgr.
o Adhering to the Preventive Maintenance Schedule.
o Communications with Maintenance Mgr. on additional time requirement not capture in schedule.
o Perform all repairs following the procedures for Lockout ? Tagout.
o Properly inspect and maintain shop equipment, in accordance with OSHA regulation.
o Identify, label and stage parts for the equipment.
o Lifting of 50 lbs. Unaided from floor to chest frequently.
o 5+ years? maintenance & troubleshooting experience in wide-web coating and converting environment
o Ability to communicate needs clearly with management
o Computer skills; Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Lotus Notes.
o Strong Math Skills.
o Good organizational skill.
o Documentation requirements and procedures.
o Good verbal and written communication.
o Ability to work in a "TEAM" environment and support a 24-hour operation.
