Job Description

Experienced IT Desktop Support Specialist
Westford  8 to 5pm
As the first point of contact for technical issues, this individual conducts research to understand, explain, and resolve technology issues. They are expected to communicate updates to users that have been or may be affected by a problem. S/he follows up with users after problems have been resolved to ensure resolution and understanding. The incumbent utilizes helpdesk tracking software to present recommendations and improvements for user systems. This individual initiates onboarding processes for new users into the system as well as offboarding processes for users who no longer require access.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Utilize helpdesk tracking software to prioritize work, updating users frequently with status. Monitor Help Desk tickets, prioritize work based on urgency, and respond to inquiries as soon as practicable.
- Communicate updates to users that have or may be affected by a problem.
- Ensure response times are quick and effective to appropriately resolve requests.
- Create, update, and maintain technical documentation for the IT department.
- Perform repairs for laptops and equipment failures and upgrades, as required.
- Provide first-level diagnoses for potential issue resolution and escalate issues as appropriate.
- On-board new hires and off-board employees according to IT protocols ? participate in new hire on-boarding / orientation, establish new hire computer set-up and communications, create user profiles via Active Directory and Office 365.
- Perform laptop imaging using Microsoft WDS, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), and Windows Assessment & Deployment Kit (ADK).
- Maintain historical records by documenting hardware and software changes and revisions.
- Configure and support security tools and software agents such as anti-virus, full-drive encryption, and patch manager.
- Test patches before deployment and maintain latest patches and updates on end-points.

Qualifications:
- Windows imaging tools - Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) or System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
- 2+ years of experience in Desktop Support or experience in a similar position.
- Prior work history operating in a MS Windows 10 / 11 environment integrated with cloud technologies from MS Azure and Office 365.
- Must have knowledge of current business-class laptop hardware and related equipment.
- VMware or other virtual computer support expertise.
- Ability to articulate the value of enterprise change management and requests.
- Understanding of TCP / IP networking protocols and procedures, and all relevant Windows operating systems and Microsoft
Office applications.
- Experience building and maintaining desktop and laptop images that support corporate platform and security hardening standards.

Preferred Skills
- Prior work history supporting end-users in a highly regulated environment, such as medical device, pharma, defense, or aerospace would be beneficial.
- Applicable A.S. or B.S. degree in a related discipline, such as medical device, pharma, defense, or aerospace would be beneficial.
- Applicable A.S. or B.S. degree in a related discipline, such Information Services or Management Information Services would be a plus.
- Certs in Microsoft MD-100, Windows Client  Comp TIA
