Rapiscan Systems | AS&E, an OSI Systems Company is seeking seeks an accounting professional to serve in the position of Senior Cost Accountant, for its Security Division located in Billerica, Massachusetts, American Science and Engineering, Inc.(?AS&E?). This individual will report to the Direct of Finance/Controller of AS&E.

RESPONSIBILITIES and GOALS:
The Senior Cost Accountant will possess significant accounting experience and outstanding reconciliation and analysis skills. The Senior Cost Accountant is a key contributor to the monthly close process and will be responsible for Cost Accounting, Inventory Control and Financial Analysis for three manufacturing locations. The Cost Accountant will maintain a high level of analytical insight into manufacturing, operational expenses and business unit profitability
Participates in the monthly financial close including inventory account reconciliation and analysis, gross margin analysis and various other reconciliations as assigned
Apply principles of manufacturing cost accounting to provide detailed cost information including variance analysis, labor distribution, direct labor & absorption and inventory analysis
Partnering with the operations teams to ensure proper inventory management, annual physical inventory validations and daily cycle counts are performed in accordance with policy
Responsible for business unit material cost analysis (includes reporting, scrap, reserves and other elements of material cost)
Prepare and lead presentation of inventory financial results to Senior Management
Assist with the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 in various locations throughout the division with a focus on inventory management
Establish overhead rates for inventory and labor and update as appropriate
Prepares documentation for external auditors as it pertains to price testing of inventory costs
Supports Controller and operations managers with cost analysis, process modifications and system related troubleshooting

Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent experience
Five to seven years in related accounting experience
Two to five years of manufacturing cost experience
Strong proficiency with office productivity applications (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Experience with integrated ERP software, Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred
Must be able to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously
Superior organizational skills and attention to details
Work requires effective oral and written communications skills
Strong analytical skills
Ability to travel 10-15%
Pay rate depends on experience.
