Job Description

Summary: The position requires the ability to effectively coordinate and deliver Girls Inc program withinthe Greater Lowell area and may include special projects. In addition, the position supports the development of programs, implementation of outcomes evaluation strategies, and supports the training of program facilitators.

Goals and Responsibilities:
The full-time Program Specialist will understand and embrace the Girls Inc experience by providing support to the program manager and the program facilitators. Such main duties will entail:
-    Facilitation of orientation and staff trainings
-    Program facilitation
-    Program development
-    Data entry

Program Facilitation:
-    Assist in developing and maintaining a positive, equitable, accessible, safe, and supportive
     environment for program participants
-    Possess the ability to design new lessons as needed that aligns objectives with the Girls Inc.
     experience
-    Facilitate programs in an engaging way that is grounded in a belief in girls' rights and abilities
-    Maintain daily lesson plans and semester schedule for each program
-    Actively assist with program related logistics such as structured free time duty and
     opening/closing of building
-    Help preserve group norms, maintain classroom management, and monitor disciplinary
     matters as needed
-    Coordinate and supervise participants during field trips and special events
-    Post activity and class schedules daily

Family and Community Engagement:
-    Serve as liaison between Girls Inc, members, and their families
-    Provide intervention and leadership in crisis situations; coordinates immediate response and
     ongoing preventive measures
-    Assists in speaking to parents at the end of the day
-    Provides feedback to Program Manager for the girls' behavioral and progress reports

-    Experience in and appreciation for urban communities, diverse populations, cultures, and
     economic experiences
-    Exhibits commitment to social justice values and anti-oppression analysis
-    Experience and strong abi lity to facilitate, present, and teach classes/workshops for girls
-    Experience working with sophisticated database systems and/or ability to quickly learn
-    Ability to employ effective classroom management
-    Ability to communicate and work directly with adults, adolescents, and children
-    Ability to inspire, stimulate, and support self-empowerment among girl
-    General knowledge of youth development and gender specific programming strategies
-    Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms
-    Detail oriented, extensive documentation skills, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced,
     multi-tasked environment
-    Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry in various software
-    Must have reliable transportation
-    Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred

Education/Experience:
-    Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma and some higher education.
-    Minimum of 6-9 months professional experience working with school -age children required -
     dependent on education.
-    At least 2+ years of program development and data management experience.
