Job Summary
The Manufacturing manager oversees all aspects of the manufacturing processes and manages day-to-day operations: Casting, Finishing, Compounding, DCL, Buffing, and Paper Inspection. He/she is responsible for direct oversight and management of the chemical ordering, inventory, receiving, and warehousing, as well as indirect oversight of paper, fabric, and consumables used in manufacturing and assuring all raw materials are available for continued production.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise staff in all manufacturing areas and approve production schedules to maintain
consistent and effective workflow throughout the manufacturing operations
- Ensure all employees in these areas are trained in the appropriate job function
- Participate in the selection and training of new personnel
- Responsible for documenting and executing progressive discipline as necessary
- Responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and reviewing through periodic reviews established via
HR
- Approve and document PTO to ensure proper coverage
- Maintain appropriate training and developmental records.
- Ensure work areas are clean and orderly
- Collaborate proactively with all business areas to meet overall quality and customer
commitments. Partner with other company managers and executives to establish a proactive,
collaborative workplace culture
- Cooperate with other managers and HR in any conflict resolution
- Serve as a technical expert and coach for team members
- Support upper management decisions on the floor as needed
- In cooperation with the maintenance department, responsible for identifying, communicating,
and overseeing resolving all ?debug? issues on equipment
- Ensure proper communication throughout the organization of challenges, changes, and
general updates within these areas
- Assist in preparing departmental reports (efficiency and effectiveness) when required
- Help establish and enforce policies (ISO/safety/Emaint) and ensure all staff meet quality
standards while maintaining safe working conditions.
- Participate in safety audits as required
The Manager must maintain operating procedures and documentation for systems that work well and revise those that need improvement. These include but are not limited to the following:
- Analyze and optimize processes to identify ways to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and
increase productivity and product quality.
- Adhere to all quality and safety standards within the area of responsibility.
- Identify and lead the implementation of cost, quality, and service improvement initiatives in
the manufacturing areas of responsibility.
- Lead the resolution of quality-related issues, both internally RMA?s
- Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules
- Perform routine reviews on executed production records (work instructions / JPL?s)
- Write Standard Operating Procedures (work instructions) and ensure daily production records
are accurate and timely
- Follow standard procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks

- Training in Six Sigma/ black belt preferred

- Use business acumen to assist with all aspects of the work
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, or chemical)
- 5+ years in a manufacturing environment
- 5+ years in a leadership role
