The Role
This is a summer co-op opportunity in Cambridge, MA from January 21, 2025 - June 20, 2025. Applicants must be available for the entire duration of the co-op. Start date will be January 21, 2025.
Moderna is seeking a highly skilled and motivated cell biologist for a position based at their Cambridge, MA site. The co-op will assist in developing the in vitro data package to support the advancement of Moderna's technology platform and pipeline. He/she/they will utilize a wide range of molecular, cell biology and optical microscopy techniques to investigate in vitro pharmacology of nucleic acids delivery vectors. Applicants should be able to function in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment and be great team members.
Here's What You'll Do
* Evaluate potency of novel delivery vectors in cellular models including primary cells, co-culture and organoids.
* Perform plate-based assays, including ELISA, functional reporters and microscopy.
* Execute and troubleshoot protocols, independently adapt new protocols into practice, and query the literature to incorporate additional assays as needed
* General laboratory assistance including ordering and receiving of lab supplies, preparation of reagents, and lab equipment maintenance
* Analyze, interpret and present data to internal parties
* Accountable for project success and results delivery
* Closely collaborate with other members within the Biological Science department and broadly with departments throughout the company
Here's What You'll Need (Minimum Qualifications)
* Current student enrolled in a Bachelors or Master's program in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, Biostatistics, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical Science, Statistics, or a related field
Here's What You'll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
* GPA of 3.5 on a 4 scale or equivalent
* High proficiency with mammalian cell culture
* Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as the ability to contribute to high performing teams.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
