JOB TITLE: Maintenance Technician

DEPARTMENT: Maintenance

JOB RELATIONSHIPS: Supervised by: Maintenance Supervisor
Coordinates with: Molding Dept. Supervisors & employees
Engineering Department
Quality Assurance Dept.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Employee must be able to:
Lift approximately 20 pounds regularly
Lift approximately 40 pounds occasionally
Lift up to 75 pounds rarely
Stand for extended periods of time
Bend, lift and reach regularly
Use hands to grasp and manipulate parts, tools, and machine controls
Tolerate hot and dusty environments

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
Taking responsibility for equipment set-up and performance in the molding department
Training personnel in the trouble-shooting, and operation of machines
Operation of machine shop equipment
Ability to solve problems and respond to equipment malfunctions as they occur
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Flexibility and willingness to work overtime to the extent necessary to ensure the smooth functioning of equipment each day

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Equipment change-overs & set-up.
Includes: preparing for and performing machine changeovers to company standards; setting up lines to optimize production and efficiency; ensuring all safety devices are in place and functioning properly; completing change-over documentation

Equipment operation & repair.
Includes: keeping molding department equipment operating to maximum efficiency; being part of on-call support staff; monitoring, troubleshooting and repairing production and support equipment; performing all duties of a molding department machine technician

Quality control.
Includes: minimizing the number of bottles rejected due to machine problems; ensuring bottles meet quality specifications following machine set-ups and repairs

Documentation.
Includes: keeping updated maintenance records for all machines; communicating necessary machine information to supervisors and machine technicians.

Organization of materials.
Includes: organizing and ensuring the availability and proper storage of spare equipment, parts, and department supplies

Training.
Includes: teaching & training new and current machine technicians and machine operators

Manufacturing parts.
Includes: setting up and operating machine shop equipment; manufacturing parts to specification; machining, welding

Housekeeping.
Includes: ensuring that equipment and work areas are kept clean and organized

Food Safety:
Maintain a "food safe" environment. Report any food safety or quality related issues to the Production Supervisor or Quality Manager
Perform all duties necessary to meet Company and Regulatory requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company, HACCP, and SQF.
Identify problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of raw material, processes, quality system, or safety system, by performing Production/Quality Checks as assigned.
Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system
Respond immediately to all quality issues. Notify the Production Supervisor and lab personnel when a bottle quality problem is found.
Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.

Miscellaneous.
Includes: performing other duties, as assigned
