Plant Mechanic - 2nd & 3rd shift positions open.

Description
Perform a variety of multi-craft duties required to construct, install, repair, and maintain production equipment and facilities in a safe, efficient and serviceable working condition.

Requirements
* Work from blueprints, schematics, specifications, manuals, work orders and written and verbal instructions from supervisor and use a wide variety of hand and power operated tools.
* Respond, in a timely manner, to equipment breakdowns. Troubleshoot problem and determine necessary repairs to minimize down time.
* Make minor repairs and inform the supervisor of need for major repairs or any unusual conditions. Make replacement parts when practical or initiate purchase order.
* Perform equipment preventative maintenance as scheduled. Inspect equipment and facilities, observe conditions, and inform supervisor of potential problems and the need for maintenance repairs.
* Perform miscellaneous maintenance duties and diagnose routine problems. Report need for major repairs or the need for licensed trades' people to supervisor.
* Inspect fire apparatus and plant security systems to ensure proper functioning.
* Perform metal fabrication including welding framework, drilling, milling, tapping, turning steel for machine parts.
* Operate snow removal equipment and ensure walkways are safely accessible if necessary..
* Prepare and maintain records of work performed or other data, reports and required. Maintain established quality and quantity standards.
* Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to supervision. Ensure work area(s) and equipment are maintained in a clean, orderly and safe condition, that prescribed safety measures are followed, that established company and department policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to.
* Miscellaneous duties as assigned to include, but not limited to, various carpentry, painting of machinery, moving furniture, minor electrical work (changing fuses and light bulbs, pick up parts at supply houses, etc.).
