Description

Perform diversified manual and mechanical duties to set up and operate bag/pouch making machinery. Duties include: machine set up, loading product, machine operation, quality checks, routine machine maintenance, and other similar duties pertaining to machine operation.
Duties require verbal communications skills, visual acuity to machine operation and product details as well as written material, manual coordination and dexterity in the use of ordinary hand tools, and the physical ability to lift various weights, climbing and reaching around machinery.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Set up bag/pouch equipment. Read job information to determine product specifications and reconfigure equipment as needed. Make adjustments to equipment and speeds etc. Load and web required product rolls. Obtain setup approval from supervisor.
Operate machinery to produce bag/pouch. Once setup is approved, bring machine up to optimal operating speed. Monitor operation to ensure product is feeding and operating properly. Make periodic visual inspections of the finished product to ensure proper quality. Clear jams as required. Reload stock as required. Adjust machine feeds/speed as necessary to obtain most efficient operation. Record production data into Activity production Input computer system and prepare required run sheets.
Follow all established safety rules and regulations and utilize required safety equipment. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Report defective equipment or unsafe conditions to the appropriate personnel. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High School Degree or Equivalent. Basic understanding of set up and operation of a bag/pouch machine.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Intermittently on feet for approx. 8 hours daily on concrete floors
Periodic lifting cartons onto a pallet up to approx. 20 lbs. to various heights up to
approx. 5.5 ft. high
Periodic lifting of pallets/shafts weighing up to approx. 50 lbs.
Occasional lifting a hydraulic lift plate approx. 115 lbs up to 3 ft. with assistance
Swinging & banging in the roll shafts with a dead blow hammer (a large rubber
mallet) up to two times per shift
Walking, squatting, crouching, turning, twisting, stretching, climbing steps,
grabbing, pulling, pushing & bending
Visual and hearing acuity within normal limits
Ishiahara machine eye exam for perfect color
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Typical environment of manufacturing and production facilities. Exposure includes but is not limited to continuous noise, scent of materials, bright work stations, machinery with moving parts.
