Job Description :
United Personnel is seeking an experienced Communications Coordinator to join the team of a local nonprofit. Reporting to the Director of Development and working closely with the Executive Director and program managers, the Communications Coordinator manages all communications and marketing functions of the organization and plans and creates impactful print, electronic and social media communications to broaden the organization?s reach and further its mission.

Objectives of this Role:
Ensure that all communications efforts serve the mission, brand, and programmatic goals;
Raise public awareness and knowledge of domestic violence and of client's services through various communications campaigns;
Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the agency?s newly articulated brand strategy.

Responsibilities:
Work with the Director of Development and Executive Director to develop and maintain an external communications plan; set objectives; create, organize and implement communications and public awareness campaign;
Create original content aligned with the organization's services, mission, and brand; research and write content for social media, create webpages and develop key print and electronic publications; including:
Services brochures, factsheets, PowerPoint presentations
Annual report for donors and supporters
Special event invitations and announcements
Internal staff newsletter·
Maintain weekly social media presence (currently Facebook); execute social media campaigns, monitor social media interactions and build online following;
Maintain and update website; work with marketing and brand consultants as needed, to implement website design and content changes;
Conduct regular conversations and interviews with direct services staff, Board members and stakeholders to develop understanding of issues and of client?s programmatic impact;
Track reach and impact of communications campaigns; record data and create communications reports as requested;
Identify media outlets and potential media partners; build and maintain media contact lists and write and distribute press releases and calendar listings;
Collaborate with Development & Outreach Associate on all pre-event public program planning, including creating registration pages and promoting events internally and to the broader community;
Represent client at professional associations, community meetings, and 3rd party events held for the benefit of client, as assigned.

Other Responsibilities:
Attend and participate in staff meetings and department meetings, and internal and external trainings, as necessary
Perform administrative and clerical tasks as needed (i.e., answering phone, copying, receiving deliveries and donations, etc.)
Other duties as assigned by Director of Development or Executive Director

Required Qualifications :
1-3 years of experience in a communications, marketing or public relations role
Demonstrated experience creating and managing social media content campaigns in a business or nonprofit setting
Comfort with learning, troubleshooting and employing software tools
Demonstrated experience with WordPress content management
Experience in email platforms such as Constant Contact
Working knowledge of HTML
Proficiency in full Microsoft Office suite, especially with Excel and PowerPoint
Working knowledge of design software (InDesign, Photoshop)
Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills
Personable with strong interpersonal skills
Comfortable with public speaking; bilingual in Spanish a plus


Education: Bachelor?s degree in a relevant field preferred. Candidates with non-traditional educational pathways and commensurate life/work experience considered.
