JOB DESCRIPTION
Support the victims and survivors of domestic violence by becoming a Domestic Violence Advocate in the Helpline Project at Behavioral Health Network!

Domestic Violence Advocates provide crisis response, safety planning, emotional support, and referrals for victims and survivors of domestic violence whose partners receive help from the Helpline Program or Intimate Partner Abuse Education Programs. They understand the dynamics of domestic violence and its perpetration. Domestic Violence Advocates respond to emergency and on-going needs of domestic violence survivors by phone, virtually, or in-person.

The Helpline Project is a new effort to provide help, support, and education to anyone who wants to prevent or stop their domestic violence abusive behaviors, victims of abuse, as well as family, friends, and professionals who want to support a person- efforts to stop. The Helpline Project will provide phone, text, and email support and follow-up services available 12 hours a day, 365 days a year. Helpline staff compassionately work with callers to examine and practice the behaviors of non-abusers, help hold callers accountable for their behavior, and connect them with further resources to encourage long-term change. The Helpline Project aims to strengthen the current efforts of agencies and communities working to end domestic violence.

Behavioral Health Network is a growing non-profit community behavioral health agency that has been providing services to children, adults, families and communities in Western Massachusetts since 1938. BHN provides comprehensive, outcome-driven behavioral health care. We are dedicated to offering high quality, affordable and culturally appropriate care to people of all ages and income levels in our constituent communities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Domestic Violence Advocates at Behavioral Health Network have the following qualities:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required). Associate's Degree or higher (preferred).
Two or more years working in the field of domestic violence (required).
Openness to continuing education with regard to understanding the dynamics of domestic violence in general, and the specific dynamics of domestic violence perpetration (required).
