Hourly / Non-Exempt
Work Hours: 7:00am to 3:30pm
Lunch 12:00pm to 12:30pm
Monday through Friday- Overtime as needed

JOB SUMMARY:
The Painter is responsible for the preparation and finishing of the vehicles and parts.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Apply undercoats and finish coats using the full range of application methods and materials
Mix and match paints and finishes
Use various methods to prepare surface for painting
Examine and feel all surfaces of metal to detect defects
Mask surfaces with tape and paper
Maintain a clean and tidy work area
Complete all documentation including inspection sheets
Identify areas of process improvement, cost and waste reduction
Work in an efficient and timely manner
Maintain cooperative working relationships, and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for a diverse population
Record all hours worked accurately

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Safely store and label materials
Perform routine maintenance on paint booths, guns and gun cleaner
Adhere to and carry out existing work practices, procedures and policies
Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate
Understand and comply with safety and environmental policies
Other duties as assigned

INTERACTION WITH:
Stock room as well as numerous levels of internal staff within a variety of departments
Occasional Customer interaction

SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY:
None

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of three (3) years' experience in automotive painting

EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED equivalent

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision
Excellent listening skills
Ability to follow directions
Ability to maintain focus
Meet deadlines
Reading abilities required (including labels)
Ability to write legibly
Follow safety and materials policies and procedures
Attention to detail

Pneumatic grinding tools
Dual Action Grinder
Masking machine
Putty gun
Crane (for painting parts)
Full face and half face Respirator
Pallet jack
Creeper
Ladder

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to pass physical exam
Must be able to pass a Respirator Fitness Exam
Ability to lift a minimum of 70 lbs.
Ability to exert maximum force to pull and carry objects
Must be able to climb into, onto and under vehicle
Must be able to make repeated trips up and down a ladder
Extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting and kneeling
Vision a minimum 20/40 with or without corrective lenses
Good hearing
