The Financial Aid/Honors & Award Counselor is a full-time, exempt position of 40 hours per week. Primary responsibilities include the oversight and distribution of the Boston Architectural College's (BAC) scholarship, honors, and awards in addition to assisting with the distribution of federal financial aid. This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid.

PRIMARY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Scholarships, Honors, and Awards
- Oversee and coordinate the awarding of scholarship and wards
- Coordinate honors selection processes, including convening juries as needed
- Ensure donor instructions are followed for all awards
- Monitor award levels, along with the Director of Financial Aid and VP of Finance
- Organize and plan ceremonies for the recognition of honors and awards
- Manage student communications and notifications for award eligibility and application processes
- Work collaboratively with institutional advancement as it pertains to donors and awards
- Coordinate communications between recipients and donors, including thank you letters.

Federal Financial Aid
- Review financial aid files and counsel students and parents on all aspects of the federal financial aid process
- Process awards for federal, state, institutional, and outside aid
- Ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, and institutional laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Manage one or more aspects of financial aid, such as the Pell Grant program
- Manage Financial Aid communications, such as award letters and notifications for missing information
- Maintain confidentiality of student information as directed under FERPA.

Educational criteria:
- Earned Bachelor degree from an accredited institution required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior experience preferred
- Experience with PowerFAIDS desired
- Meets eligibility requirements for access to US Department of Education Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) System
- Knowledge of federal financial aid regulations and/or donor agreements preferred
- Public speaking and presentation experience preferred
- Excellent organizational and management skills
