Job Description

MassHire Lowell Career Center is looking for an AM Cook for a health care center in Lowell, MA to join their team.

Purpose of Job:
- Ensures the nutritional needs of the patients/residents are met while always putting customer service first by working hand-in-hand with dietitians and healthcare professionals.
- Ensures that patients/residents receive the highest quality of service in an attentive, responsive and respectful atmosphere which recognizes the individuals? needs and preferences by creating healthy attractive meals according to their nutritional needs.

Brief  Description  of Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Promotes safe practices and infection control by handling food, operating equipment, etc. in a safe manner per protocol
- Assures the cleanliness of assigned areas by performing scheduled sanitation duties in a timely manner
- Represents the organization by demonstrating our five core values in all interactions with other in the D?Youville community, and with the public.
- Keeps all patient/resident information in strict confidence by following HIPAA regulations.
- Ensures the cooking and presentation and clean up of food is properly executed by assisting in the direction, instruction, training, checking, and supervision of activities involving preparation.
- Provides required nourishment and therapeutic value in a balanced, tasty, nutritional and presentable manner by assisting in resident/patient meal planning.
- Demonstrates the ability to prepare resident/patient, employee, and guests regular and special diet consumption by working from production sheets, menus, recipes, schedules and following written and verbal instructions.
- Ensures the safety of all food being prepared by overseeing cooks preparing raw food for cooking by washing, peeling and cutting, seasoning food; timing, cooking processes; observing, testing and/or tasting food being cooked; and weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients according to recipes while being mindful of portion control.
- Confirms that refrigerators, freezers, dish machine and safe cooking techniques are standard by recording appropriate temperatures daily..
- Ensures that assembled trays are in proper order, have proper presentation and completeness against resident menu requests or diet slips by making corrections, substitutions or adjustments as necessary.

Non-essential (secondary) Duties
- Assures patients/residents receive meals on time by reporting to work on time, in uniform, ready for duty.
- Keep open lines of communication and maintain knowledge of current D?Youville initiatives by attending staff and other facility meetings and participating in appropriate committees and task forces
- Consistently project a professional image by following high sanitation and personal hygiene levels and adhering to the department?s dress code policy
- Promotes teamwork and efficiency by making independent decisions when circumstance warrant and seeking appropriate assistance when additional knowledge is needed
