Job Description

MassHire Lowell Career Center is looking Prep Cooks for a health care center in Lowell, MA to join their team.

Purpose of Job:
- Ensures the nutritional needs of the patients/residents are met while always putting customer service first by working hand-in-hand with dietitians and healthcare professionals.
- Ensures that patients/residents receive the highest quality of service in an attentive, responsive and respectful atmosphere which recognizes the individuals? needs and preferences by creating healthy attractive meals according to their nutritional needs.

Brief  Description  of Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Promotes safe practices and infection control by handling food, operating equipment, etc. in a safe manner per protocol
- Assures the cleanliness of assigned areas by performing scheduled sanitation duties in a timely manner
- Represents the organization by demonstrating our five core values in all interactions with other in the D?Youville community, and with the public.
- Keeps all patient/resident information in strict confidence by following HIPAA regulations.
- Able to portion, prepare, fry, boil, broil, bake, sauté pork, beef, lamb, veal, poultry, fish and other items by working from production sheets, menus, recipes, schedules, prep lists, and following verbal and written instructions.
- Ensure sufficient quantities and qualities of food are ready prior to scheduled serving times by following cooking schedules and prep lists.
- May be required to cook, assist, direct, check and instruct dining services staff in resident food tray assembly when the cook or supervisor is unavailable.
- Ensure regulatory compliance by recording food, refrigerator, freezer, dish washing machine and other temperatures and chemicals usage.
- Assume delegated functions of the Cook in his/her absence or unavailability.
- Maximize team efficiency by periodically checking with other shift staff regarding upcoming functions, pulls, and advance preparations
- Responsible for maintaining all cooking and preparation area(s), equipment and utensils in a clean, orderly, safe and sanitized condition.

Non-essential (secondary) Duties
- Assures patients/residents receive meals on time by reporting to work on time, in uniform, ready for duty.
- Keep open lines of communication and maintain knowledge of current D?Youville initiatives by attending staff and other facility meetings and participating in appropriate committees and task forces
- Consistently project a professional image by following high sanitation and personal hygiene levels and adhering to the department?s dress code policy
- Promotes teamwork and efficiency by making independent decisions when circumstance warrant and seeking appropriate assistance when additional knowledge is needed
- May be required to assist in serving on tray line.
