NEIWPCC is a regional commission that helps the states of the Northeast preserve and advance water quality. We engage and convene water quality professionals and other interested parties from New England and New York to collaborate on water, wastewater, and environmental science challenges across shared regions, ecosystems, and areas of expertise.
NEIWPCC is seeking a diplomatic, dynamic, and driven candidate to serve as a project manager in support of our mission on regional and national Water Quality Standards (WQS), nutrient and numeric water quality standards, Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL), Climate Change, Clean Water Act 303(d) national listing and TMDL training workshops. Candidate will serve as project manager for the Long Island Nitrogen Action Plan (LINAP) including the supervision of one full-time staff member. Will organize meetings of appropriate state and federal staff for the WQS, nutrient and numeric water quality standards, TMDL, and Climate Change workgroups, developing agendas and responding to requests for information from workgroup members, as well as updating NEIWPCC?s Executive Committee and Commission. Will develop and administer work plans, budgets, and contract/grant amendments, as well as develop requests for proposals, section of contractors, and management of contracts.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor?s degree and ideally a master?s degree or appropriate experience in environmental studies, public policy, natural science, public health, earth science, biology, chemistry, or related field and must have experience working with a broad range of stakeholders in implementing environmental programs. Knowledge and experience with aspects of water quality and watershed management as well as knowledge and understanding of federal environmental laws and regulations required. Candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Strong computer skills required along with the ability to perform basic statistical analysis.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Serve as project manager for work in support of NEIWPCC?s mission.
o Organize workgroup meetings of appropriate state and federal staff.
o Develop and administer work plans, budgets, and contract/grant amendments and provide contract management.
o Coordinate with other staff on crosscutting program issues, including the pollution reduction Tracking and Accounting Collaborative and climate change initiative.
o Work with Quality Assurance Program Manager with review of Quality Assurance Project Plans as needed.
o Maintain appropriate webpages on NEIWPCC website to ensure they are up-to-date and accurate and provide background materials or write articles for various NEIWPCC, or other, publications.
o The successful candidate will have a bachelor?s degree and ideally a master?s degree or equivalent experience in environmental studies, public policy, natural science, public health, earth science, biology, chemistry, or related field preferred.
o Experience working with a broad range of stakeholders in implementing environmental programs.
o Knowledge and experience with aspects of water quality and watershed management
o Excellent organizational skills.
o Ability to work effectively with scientists, engineers, and managers, and to establish professional credibility.
