Reporting to the Youth Team Operations Coordinator, participates as a member of the Youth Team, and assists with the organization, promotion, and coordination of the Youth Works Program.
Oversees the work of site supervisors as required. Helps design, administer, and promote remote and on-site remote services during the covid19 pandemic. Develops and facilitates collaborations with the business community to identify for youth virtual, hybrid, and on-site (when appropriate) placement job sites. Provides counseling and support for youth, including career exploration and preparation, and job coaching. Teaches and ensures all participating youth have completed the Massachusetts Work Based Learning Plan, the Work Readiness (Signal Success Certificate Program), safety training module, and reflections workshop, and other required components of participation. Manages budgets, and helps maintain accurate records and data. Keeps contact with youth by making calls, and individual meetings. Administrative tasks also include answering calls, copying, faxing, developing promotional flyers, and maintaining forms and applications. Participates in community meetings as needed and promotes the Youth Works Program in neighborhoods and with businesses.
Position Specific Responsibilities:
Demonstrates a strong commitment to assisting urban youth with non-traditional backgrounds and/or career related barriers in meeting their career and educational goals.
Promotes and recruits qualified youth between the ages of 14-25.
Coordinates the redesign of systems and practices to support virtual and hybrid service delivery.
Conducts a returning participant analysis protocol and assists in the use of data to develop a stronger plan that focuses on how best to foster progression among returning participants.
Meets with businesses and develops appropriate work sites for participating youth with the goal of increasing private sector placements for the summer.
Conducts outreach activities, such as canvassing, and participating in community and school events.
Ensures that all enrollment materials are completed and reviews potential terminations with the Youth Team.
Ensures that all time sheets are properly completed and approved and submits them on a payroll summary sheet to the program manager and director of finance.
Assists in delivering paychecks to youth each week, as needed.
Coaches youth on appropriate work behavior, provides counseling to youth if issues arise on or off the job site that affect successful completion of the program, and keeps accurate counseling notes.
Ensures that the Massachusetts Work Based Learning Plans are complete and all necessary signatures are obtained
Using Excel or other spreadsheet software, tracks worksites, contact persons, enrolled youth, attendance, and start and end dates for reporting purposes
Performs other duties as assigned.
