Job Description
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In accordance with the mission and vision of the MLKFS, the next President/CEO will work collaboratively with the Board of Directors and staff to carry on the organization's proud record of achievement and commitment to community support and social justice. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing inspirational leadership to the organization to ensure that it continues as a leading champion of families in the Springfield area.
The President/CEO will oversee MLKFS's programs and activities, lead the staff team, ensure the organization has the financial resources to thrive, build strategic partnerships and alliances with various stakeholders, and act as the organizational spokesperson. This is a full-time, salaried position which reports to the Board of Directors.
Primary responsibilities include:
Execute the mission and strategic plan of the organization, develop and implement plans for expanding and developing MLKFS's services and infrastructure.
Work with the Program Directors to oversee, promote & coordinate all programs.
Ensure long-term financial sustainability through diversified revenue sources; cultivate relationships with major funders and secure financial support from state and local contracts, public and private grants, individuals, corporations, and special events such as MLKFS's annual Social Justice event; oversee grant applications and grant compliance/reporting.
Maintain a well-functioning, efficient organization through strong management, fiscal responsibility, budget management, effective communication, and team building.
Recruit, interview, hire, direct & monitor staff in a dynamic environment; oversee professional development and support systems for staff.
Work collaboratively and productively with the Board of Directors, and help to recruit new members.
Maintain and strengthen existing relationships with partner agencies and policymakers while expanding community partnerships.
Serve as the public face and official spokesperson for MLKFS ; promote the mission to all constituencies, the general public, and the media.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's Degree is required.
Demonstrated commitment to community programs; minimum of 5 years or experience working in a nonprofit or social service environment strongly preferred.
Experience in many, if not all, Executive Director/President/CEO functions, including interfacing with a board of directors, managing an organization staff and budget, program delivery, resource development/fundraising, and strong communications skills, including public speaking.
Experience in supervising staff and/or contractors.
Experience with community engagement skills in an urban setting preferred.
Knowledge of the Springfield community is preferred but not required.
Salary Range: $100,000-$118,00/Annual
