Job Description
Maintenance Mechanic
Position Summary: Perform unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks on buildings, apartments, grounds and equipment. Works under the supervision of an employee of higher grade who assigns duties and reviews work for effectiveness and conformance to instructions. Essential Functions:
1. Performs minor building/grounds maintenance such as removing and replacing glass from windows, hardware replacement or repairs, shades, screens, doors, walls & floors;
2. Assists in preparing vacant apartments for rentals;
3. Mows lawns, and prune trees and shrubbery, etc.;
4. Removes snow from grounds and premises either by plowing, snow blowers or shoveling;
5. Performs repairs to water closets and drains, usually consisting of unplugging them and freeing them for normal use;
6. Assist maintenance department wherever needed, including driving a truck, lifting, loading and unloading heavy objects such as stoves and refrigerators into and out of trucks and apartments;
7. Uses a variety of small hand and power tools;
8. Repair window shades and screens;
9. Prepares surfaces to be painted in apartments and common areas;
12. Performs other job-related work as required.
