AMHERST, GREENFIELD, WEST SPRINGFIELD

Part-time ESOL Teacher

Center for New Americans seeks a few ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teachers for our beginning and low intermediate classes. Classes are partly in person in Amherst, Greenfield and/or West Springfield, and partly online (2 days/week in person, 2 days/week online on zoom) Successful candidates will have experience teaching at the beginner and/or intermediate level in person and on zoom.

Most of our classes meet Mondays through Thursdays from 8:30-10:30 AM. Teachers work 17 hours per week which includes teaching, preparation, and hours for meetings and administrative tasks including attendance data entry. Compensation is in the range of $25.00/hour depending on experience.

Successful candidates will:

have a TESOL certificate and/or equivalent degree;
have experience teaching adult ESOL students in a community-based setting including beginning-level and pre-literate students and experience with differentiation for a range of learners;
have experience integrating technology into ESOL instruction, and teaching ESOL online using the Zoom platform;
have experience planning lessons which align with DESE (the Mass. Department of Elementary & Secondary Education) MA ELPS and following a Scope & Sequence;
be open to peer mentoring and close collaboration with other teachers, program advisors, and volunteers;
assess and document students' participation and progress.
