Van Passenger Driver - Part Time
$16.00 - $17.50 an hour - Part-time DOE
Job Title: Veterans Van Driver
Schedule: Monday to Friday -Weekends as needed
Division: Veteran's Services
Exemption Status: Non-Exempt; Per-Diem Flexible Hours between 8am-5pm
Position Summary:
The Veterans Van Driver will be responsible to provide reliable, safe, and courteous transportation service to veteran/agency participants and agency staff as needed on a per diem basis. S/he will be responsible to drive a 15-passenger van on an assigned route to transport individuals to and from various locations. Also, the Driver will move and transport boxes and deliveries to and from the agency as needed. When not on assignment s/he will be designated to assist program staff in activities such as identifying additional event locations for trips and/or assisting in outreach activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates assigned vehicle in a safe and courteous manner;
Assists passengers, including handicapped, in and out of the vehicle;
Reads and interprets maps and driving directions (GPS) to plan the most efficient route service for participants
Must be available to work as needed to provide services to clients in a timely manner,
Keeps the assigned vehicle(s) clean inside and outside;
Maintains accurate, up-to-date records of trips/vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident /accident reports, vehicle condition reports, and other records that are requested from the Director of Veteran Services.
Coordinates the schedule for major or periodic vehicle maintenance with the Director of Veteran Services and staff to minimize service interruptions
Moving/transport supplies and (or) deliveries of the department/agency as needed
Perform duties such as engaging veterans to identify possible ways to improve schedule/trip destinations
Recruit veterans into the program through outreach
Work with program staff conducting outreach activities
When needed will assist with General maintenance of department/agency and other duties as directed by the Director of Veteran Services.
Participate in community events that provide opportunities to showcase available services for veterans;
Assist in the identification, outreach, and recruitment of hard-to-reach client populations;
Participate in individual supervision with his/her supervisor, staff meetings, and team case conferences;
Attend training and meetings as required;
Other duties as assigned.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to effectively communicate, provide information and respond to questions from employees, clients, community partners, donors, and vendors
Ability to speak multiple languages desired; fluency in Spanish preferred.
