SKILLED LABORER-PARKS & FORESTRY
GRADE 4 $21.34 per hour

Statement of Duties: Position is responsible for skilled manual work at the journeyman level in connection with Parks and Forestry projects; does related work as required.

Essential Functions:

Operates light duty to heavy-duty equipment (depending on class of operator's license) for snow removal
Paints and makes minor repairs to Town owned equipment and buildings
Performs tasks normally assigned to a laborer
Installs park and playground equipment and sets up hockey rinks; maintains park areas, playgrounds and skating rinks
Assists the Forestry dept. with operations
Performs miscellaneous manual tasks requiring the highest degree of skill in the maintenance and care of recreation areas, athletic fields, parks and playgrounds
Performs grounds maintenance duties: plants, seeds, rakes, fertilizes and grades, cuts, waters and trims fields and park areas

Typical Qualifications
Recommended Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience: Work requires high school graduation or equivalent plus two years experience in the same or a related field or any equivalent combination of education and experience required to perform the essential functions of this position.

Special Requirements: MA Driver's License

Knowledge, Abilities and Skill: Must have a comprehensive experience in construction or maintenance work or any equivalent combination of education and experience required to perform the essential functions of this position. Must have general knowledge of the methods, techniques, procedures, equipment and materials relating to various systems construction and maintenance tasks. Must have mechanical aptitude to operate various types of equipment that would be found in flood and sewer stations as well as other public works systems.
