REMOTE-WESTERN MASS
Long-term Sub for Literacy Level Class ESOL Teacher
Center for New Americans seeks an ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teacher as a long-term sub for our morning remote literacy-level class. This class meets online using zoom technology. Successful candidates will have experience at the literacy level, experience teaching remotely on zoom, and the capacity and willingness to teach this class on zoom for approximately 3 months, from mid-November through mid-March.
This class meets Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 8:30 to 10:30 AM. Teachers work 17 hours per week which includes teaching, preparation, and hours for meetings and administrative tasks including attendance data entry. Compensation is in the range of $25/hour based on experience.
Successful candidates will:
have a TESOL certificate and/or equivalent degree;
have experience teaching adult ESOL students in a community-based setting including beginning-level and pre-literate students and experience with differentiation for a range of learners;
have experience integrating technology into ESOL instruction, and teaching ESOL online using the Zoom platform;
have experience planning lessons which align with DESE (the Mass. Department of Elementary & Secondary Education) MA ELPS and following a Scope & Sequence;
be open to peer mentoring and close collaboration with other teachers, program advisors, and volunteers;
assess and document students' participation and progress.
