The purpose of this position is to evaluate and test chain drive performance within internal combustion engines; operating engine dynamometers and motoring stands.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities of this job are included but not limited to this job description - other tasks may be assigned and expected to be performed.
Testing chain drive performance within internal combustion engines; operating engine dynamometers and motoring stands.
Traveling to customer sites to conduct chain system evaluations as part of a global evaluation team (about 6 times per year for 1~2 weeks per trip).
Assembling and disassembling engines to access or install timing drives and test parts.
Setting up chain system and component tests using appropriate hardware, sensors, data acquisition, etc.
Preparing test reports on system evaluations and component tests.
Designing test parts and creating engineering drawings.
Performing Finite Element Analysis on components and Dynamic analysis on chain systems.
Operating and maintaining dynamic chain test machines.
Examining and evaluating customer test results.
Develop and provide test plans for customer issues and limited scope projects
Design and acquire required test equipment/fixtures from vendors
Conduct product evaluations using internal and external standards for test work
Document the tests conducted, results, issues encountered, and the solutions developed
Utilize monitoring and measuring equipment to perform inspection and test functions
Participate in global cross-functional teams, including marketing, designers, manufacturing, sales and procurement
Manage workload to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks
Performs Test & Evaluation facility upgrades and mechanical maintenance
Maintaining all lab equipment to IATF/TS16949 standards, including calibration.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required. Mechanical Engineering preferred.
0- 3 years of related experience preferred.
Understanding of engineering experimentation, data acquisition, & instrumentation.
Understanding, and hands-on experience with internal combustion engines.
Strong mechanical skills, good manual dexterity.
Strong CAD & FEA skills. (Solidworks, Ansys, NX)
Excellent interpersonal, written, and speaking skills.
Critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills required.
Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and written.
Computer skills and proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, & Word

Mostly in an office environment but occasionally in a factory environment with exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold, or chemicals.
